MARVELOUS MANNERS MEETING CHECKLIST

  • Be on time. Respect others’ time and don’t be late. Those running the meeting should end it on time.

  • Come prepared to participate by having your materials in order and having body language that shows you are ready to engage – lean in, make eye contact, smile. If you are running the meeting, send out an agenda in enough time that others can prepare.

  • Be present. Focus on those around the table and not at the other end of your electronic device. Everyone sees you peeking at your iPhone under the table. Put. It. Away.

  • Speak with respect toward others. One can disagree without being disagreeable.

  • Stick to the agenda and don’t monopolize the meeting. Meetings should foster dialogues not monologues. Don’t be afraid to suggest taking a topic “offline” if more discussion is necessary. Others will be grateful.
